Nobody at this site has fitted a JLM Marine water pump kit to a running outboard, so this is not a verdict on the hardware. It is a reading of what the brand publishes on its own policy pages, what it leaves unsaid, and where its own pages contradict each other — the questions you want answered before a repair kit sits in your cart.
What JLM Marine sells
JLM Marine Boat Parts Limited is an aftermarket parts maker for marine engines, both outboard and inboard. The company says it has been building parts "factory-direct" since 2002, that its catalog runs to over 7,000 items, and that its parts fit Yamaha, Mercury, Johnson/Evinrude, Suzuki, Honda, Tohatsu/Nissan, Volvo Penta and MerCruiser engines. All of that comes from the brand's own About page; none of it carries third-party verification.
The legal entity is JLM MARINE Inc., with a US address of 2125 Gateway Blvd, Hebron, KY 41048 on file at the Better Business Bureau. Manufacturing is based in China. Prices on the site are in USD, and the catalog spans cooling systems, fuel systems, oil filters and oiling, electrical parts, engine accessories, boat accessories, and trailering gear.
How to pick between the kits
If you are new to the catalog, three axes decide which part lands in your cart:
- Engine make and horsepower band. Water pump impeller kits are listed by engine family and HP range — Johnson/Evinrude V4/V6/V8 90–225 HP is a different part number from Johnson/Evinrude 75–250 HP, and both are different from the Mercury/Mariner 75–115 HP kit. Buying by brand name alone is how you end up with a kit that physically will not fit.
- OEM replacement number. Many product pages list the OEM part numbers the kit replaces (for example, 5001594 and 390768 for one of the Johnson kits). If your service manual quotes a number, matching it is safer than matching horsepower alone.
- Kit versus single part. Some items are full repair kits with gaskets and seals; others are a single impeller, decal, or fuel pump. The product title tells you which, and the price difference is real — a repair kit at $35 is doing more work than a bare impeller at $24.
Sample prices from the catalog
These are the sale prices JLM Marine shows on its own product pages at the time of writing. The regular price listed next to each is the brand's own "was" number; treat it as what the brand says the kit normally sells for, not an independently verified reference price.
- Water Pump Impeller Repair Kit, Johnson/Evinrude V4/V6/V8 90–225 HP: regular $49.50, sale $35.00.
- Water Pump Impeller Kit 5001595, Johnson/Evinrude 75–250 HP: regular $59.00, sale $57.50.
- Water Pump Repair Kit, Mercury/Mariner 75–115 HP: regular $103.00, sale $89.00.
- VRO Fuel Pump Replacement Kit, Johnson/Evinrude 90–115 HP V4: regular $88.00, sale $73.50.
- Water Pump Impeller Kit, Johnson/Evinrude 9.9/15 HP: regular $27.80.
- Fuel Pump, Johnson/Evinrude 6–15 HP: regular $45.00, sale $24.80.
- Mercury 90 HP Decal Sticker Set: $54.00 flat.
- MerCruiser Bravo Three Stern Drive Decal: regular $27.00, sale $22.80.
Across the cooling and fuel kits we looked at, discounts reach up to 44% off the brand's own regular price, with the Johnson/Evinrude Impeller Repair Kit at 29% off and the Mercury/Mariner Water Pump Kit at 13% off sitting between those extremes.
Shipping, as the brand puts it in writing
Here the brand contradicts itself, and it is worth knowing before you pick a part.
The shipping policy page says, in plain language, "Free shipping. No Minimum Purchase." The same brand's Johnson/Evinrude collection page says free shipping applies "on orders under 2kg." JLM Marine has not reconciled the two statements anywhere we can find. Either reading could be true; we are not going to pick one for you.
The brand also says it can ship "to virtually any address in the world." Delivery times quoted on the shipping policy page: 1–5 business days from Amazon FBA for US and Canada orders, around seven days from the US warehouse, and roughly 12 days from the China warehouse. Most orders are said to leave the warehouse within 24 hours. Shipping is weight-based on items it does charge for, rounded up to the nearest pound.
What the brand does not spell out is whether free shipping applies before or after a discount code is used. If you are near a weight threshold the collection page hints at, a code that drops your subtotal could — in theory — change what the cart quotes for shipping. The policy page does not say.
Returns
JLM Marine gives standard customers seven calendar days from delivery to request a return, and EU customers 14 days (consistent with EU consumer protection rules). Items must be new, unused, and in the original packaging with tags.
Return shipping is on the buyer unless the fault is on JLM Marine's side. There is a 20% restocking fee on "change of mind" returns, waived if the item is defective, damaged in transit, or the wrong part was shipped. Original shipping charges are not refunded. The process is to email info@jlm-marine.com within seven days, get an RMA number, send the item back within three business days, and expect a refund within ten business days of the warehouse receiving it.
Seven days is short. If you order a water pump kit for a seasonal boat and the box sits for a week before you open it, you have already used your window.
Warranty
Product pages for the kits we looked at both carry a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects "under normal use." That is the whole published warranty — written on the product page, not a dedicated warranty document. The URL `/pages/warranty` returns 404.
The brand does not publish an exclusions list, does not define "normal use," and does not say whether the warranty covers labor, shipping of a replacement part, or diagnosis. Everything beyond "one year, manufacturing defects" is on the brand to decide case by case.
What JLM Marine does not publish
Reading the policies back to back, these are the things we could not find a straight answer for anywhere on the brand's site:
- Whether free shipping is counted before or after a discount code is applied.
- Whether there is a weight ceiling on free shipping — one brand page says no minimum, another says "under 2kg," and nothing reconciles the two.
- A minimum order amount for the public code WELCOMEJLM.
- Any products excluded from the WELCOMEJLM code.
- An expiry date for WELCOMEJLM.
- A specific exclusions list for the one-year warranty, and what "normal use" means in practice.
- Whether international shipping is restricted on any categories (batteries and certain fluids are commonly restricted elsewhere; JLM Marine does not say).
- A dedicated warranty page, FAQ page, or privacy policy page — the URLs for those return 404 at the time of writing.
- An independent reference for the brand's own marketing claims. "Factory-direct since 2002," "7,000+ parts," "approximately $10M stock," and parts "built to meet or exceed OEM specifications" are the brand's own words, with no third-party certification or test report attached.
According to the Better Business Bureau profile for JLM MARINE Inc., the file is less than six months old, carries no BBB rating yet, and lists two complaints in the past 12 months (orders not delivered, cancellations without refund, and inventory information that did not match reality). Treat that as context from a third party, not as something the brand itself says.
Who should skip JLM Marine
- Anyone who needs a return window longer than a week on a part they might not test until the next sailing weekend. Seven days from delivery is not generous.
- Anyone who needs an itemised warranty. If you want a document that says what is covered, what is excluded, and what proof is required, this brand does not publish one.
- Anyone whose boat is laid up at a yard far from the water where a part can sit untested long past the return window.
- Anyone who wants an independently verified OEM-equivalent certification. The "meet or exceed OEM" line is marketing language with no test report behind it on the brand's site.
- Anyone shopping for a battery, fluid, or oversized component who needs international shipping confirmed in advance — the brand does not publish a restricted list.
Check before you pay
A short list of things worth confirming at the cart screen, since the policies leave them open:
- Which free shipping rule your cart actually applies — the "no minimum" line or the "under 2kg" line.
- The exact ship-from warehouse quoted on your order (Amazon FBA, US, or China) — delivery time shifts from a few days to roughly 12.
- Whether your discount is applied before or after shipping is calculated.
- The RMA process, if the kit is a gift or going to a boat you will not inspect for weeks — your seven days starts at delivery.
Codes and conditions
StackWell Pick has a code — `STACKWELLPICK19` — that takes 8% off. That is the one offer on this brand's page in our catalog that has gone through a real cart test, so the badge next to it is doing work.
This is not an exclusive rate. JLM Marine's own homepage displays a public code, `WELCOMEJLM`, that takes 10% off a first order for new customers. If you have never bought from JLM Marine before, that code is a stronger offer than ours. If you have ordered from them in the past, you cannot use WELCOMEJLM a second time, and the 8% code is the one that will apply.
Neither code's conditions are fully published. JLM Marine does not post a minimum order amount, an expiry date, or an exclusions list for WELCOMEJLM. Our 8% code's conditions are not posted on the brand's site either. In practice this means both codes may stop working on specific products or weight thresholds without the site telling you up front — read the cart line before you confirm.
Where to go from here
If you have a part number from a service manual and want to pin it to a kit, the brand's Johnson/Evinrude cooling system kits are the clearest place to start — product titles there list the OEM numbers each kit replaces. Returning customers can run through the current JLM Marine codes and deals we track before heading to the brand. The seven-day return window, the restocking fee, and the free-shipping contradiction are all written on the brand's own shipping and refund policy pages, which is the right place to re-read them before you confirm the order.
